IMEI checks explained: carrier, blacklist and SIM-lock reports
Not all IMEI checks are equal — here is what each report tells you before you spend money on an unlock.
A carrier report confirms which network the device is locked to. A blacklist report flags lost, stolen or financed devices — never unlock a blacklisted phone expecting it to work domestically.
A SIM-lock report tells you whether an unlock is needed at all. Run the cheap check first; order the unlock second.
